Practice Area Spotlight

Pregnancy Discrimination

Creating new life should never be a basis for punishment in the professional arena. And yet, pregnancy discrimination remains real and rampant in many workplaces across California.

Pregnancy discrimination, and discrimination on the basis of childbirth, can take many forms — sometimes subtle and other times, obvious. For example, an employer may suddenly conjure up, and terminate an employee for, “performance issues” immediately after learning of that employee’s pregnancy. Or, an employer may terminate a new mother soon after she returns from maternity leave. An employer may also fail to reasonably accommodate a new mother’s lactation needs or take other actions that reveal a discriminatory motive.

Gamliel Law stands up for employees who have been treated unfairly because of their pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical needs.

Alexis Gamliel possesses the qualities that every client hopes to find in a great trial lawyer.

With her clients, she is a compassionate and dedicated advisor who listens carefully and communicates thoughtfully. But when it’s time to represent that client in court, she’s also got the tenacity and the talent required to persuade any judge or jury. She is well respected by her fellow lawyers and well-liked by all. Because of those qualities, I would recommend her highly to anyone looking for top-notch representation.
